It
is time for the families of prisoners to protest against routine
statewide visiting abuses at Salinas Valley Prison and California Treatment
Facility (same location). Meet us on public property in front of the prison
just off Highway 101, you will see our UNION banner. Get full directions
to the prison by entering this address at www.mapquest.com
31625 Highway 101
Scenic area, 85 deg. high that day We begin at dawn stay til we drop. Friends Outside trailer opens at 8 am. please stay in place until the size of our crowd draws out the media. Volunteers are needed to help with this event. Copy this flyer, fill a van, share expenses and join us in standing up against abuse of visitors and bad policies at every prison! All prisons need revised policies and a change in attitude. If you care, be there! In the past our protests always produced positive results and media coverage. 30,000 children in Calif may not
visit their own parents except for an occasional one hour behind glass.
Ad seg/SHU appointments are almost impossible to get. If your loved one
goes to the hospital, you may not visit him even if he is dying The
guards are rude and thoughtless. Visiting is rehab and we must stand
tall for it

| Family Members of all Races Religions are asked to stand up against Visiting Abuses Statewide by protesting with us out front of Salinas Valley Prison and Ca. Treatment Facility. (Two prisons on same grounds) The size of the crowd determines our success. We will continue for as long as we have a crowd. No one has ever successfully protested against the Green Wall. People are being turned away who traveled for hundreds of miles for ridiculous reasons. Abusive visiting Sgts and guards need to be fired for routine cruelty to families. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Vans can be rented for $59 w/ unlimited mileage. It is very inexpensive to share the costs. Email Susan Randall at uniondatabase@aol.com if you can give a ride or need a ride. Mature people & children are welcomed. Bring water, sack lunch, hat, sun block, protest signs on visiting abuses. Stay together so we can show a crowd. No matter where you have someone imprisoned, this day is important for you. It is best if you do not plan on visiting your loved one that day as the power of numbers is what makes the point. Some people will be coming from as far away as San Diego. If you can help with expenses, please email Rev. Bird, rightor1@yahoo.com. Without protest we can expect more of the same abuse. Please do not assume that other people will do your share to make it a success. There are no rescuers, each person who wants visiting reforms needs to show up. | ||||||||||||||||||||
